Eliminating barriers on the internet

The Fundació Agbar, in keeping with its goal of improving the quality of people's lives, has taken closely into account the recommended standards of web accessibility for the elimination of internet barriers.

Accordingly, the Fundació Agbar's new web site complies with Accessibility Level A (Priority 1) for visual, cognitive and technological disabilities, which allows the user to adjust the text size, to access the content without the decorative elements, etc. These guidelines, WCAG 1.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 1.0) are established by WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) which belongs to the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).

The objective of this accessibility is:

  • to simplify the social inclusion of persons who are marginalised or in risk of exclusion.
  • to contribute to the building a less segregated and more integrative society, and to simplify the active participation of all persons.

With this accessible Web-design, Fundació Agbar makes the Web content more available to all users. This means that a person with some sort of disability may access the contents successfully and also help navigators find information on the Web more quickly.
